Today was a very enjoyable one. So enjoyable, that I wanted to write about it. I got the kids to school this morning and then had a day with just Peyton and me. We started with a doctor appointment for me to have a spot on my back checked out. The doctor decided he wants to schedule to remove it and have it tested ... guess he didn't like the way it looked either. After that we picked up lunch at Taco Bell (one of our favorites). Thanks to Mindi, I am hooked on the chicken soft tacos ~ fresco style. We then called a friend to see if we could borrow her pool for a little while to satisfy Peyton's desire to swim and hang out with his "best friend in the whole wide world" ~ Andrew. Thanks Jen for being the wonderful friend that you always are!
I got the kids working on their homework and showered before we headed off to Family Academic night. The school staff shared wonderful online resources for helping children grow academically. The school has done a fabulous job putting together their website making resources easily available to us as parents. We had a chance to have the kids check them out at the school ... and the kids loved several of them.
The kids were so good today that I felt like they needed to be treated to some ice cream. We checked out a new yogurt place that just opened up. It was WONDERFUL! The kids got to taste every flavor that they had a desire to, and then made their choice on which one, or two, or three flavors they wanted. To top it off ... they then were able to pick their toppings ... as many and as much as they wanted. In the end you paid based on the weight of your choices. WE LOVED IT!!!
After we got home, in pj's with teeth brushed; each of the kids tried out singing a tune on the High School Musical Wii game we have. I enjoyed it about as much as they did.
I can say that I REALLY enjoyed my day! I enjoyed being ... being with the kids, being a mom, being a friend, being a wife, being ME. I am finding (or trying to) a balance in doing less and enjoying the little things more. I am so grateful and fortunate to be a stay at home mom. THANK YOU CARL for working so hard, so I can live my dream! I LOVE YOU!!!
What a cute family picture. I am glad that you will get a break from school over the summer. You deserve it!
