This is when the day went south. On our way from leaving the school, still in the school zone, a guy was speeding (on the opposite side of the road). I get really irritated to see people speeding in school zones. Don’t they know that kids are around and they comprise safety? I got really irritated when he hit smack into us as he tried to speed into the bus loading area. It scared the crapola out of all of us, and I didn’t stay as calm as I would like to say I should have. I think the first thing out of my mouth after I had to kick myself out of the driver door because it was smashed in and wouldn’t open was “What is your problem? Don’t you know this is a school zone and you’re speeding into a bus loading area?” (OK, not proud of this …) I looked to see if the kids were ok, looked at our van and then the next thing that ran through my mind was “we are lucky everyone is ok, CRAP now I need to let Carl, Amber & Tara know that we got into an accident”. Then I did what I always do when I get super stressed … I cried, and cried. (People probably thought I was being a baby … The last thing I want to do right now is be without a vehicle since our van is not drivable). I am not sure how fast he was going, but I am grateful I wasn’t going faster 10 mph.
I met Megan Kutch, she was the first to pull up to see if I needed anything. I just cried that my cell battery was dead and I couldn’t call anyone. She was so nice, gave me a great smile and said here is my cell, call whoever you need. I called the police and then Carl. He said “It is ok, I will be right there. I love you.” I LOVE HIM!!! Megan even stuck around to see if there was anything else I might need. I am very grateful for her willingness to spend her time to make sure we were ok. I would like to say “THANK YOU MEGAN!”
I would also like to thank Shayne for stopping to see if were ok, and for calling Amber to let her know what had happened and to see if she’d come over. I really appreciate your help getting through initial shock as I made calls on your cell and cried. “THANK YOU SHAYNE!”
Amber & Shannon ~ Thank you for taking Peyton and keeping him for us. Thank you for getting Alanna to her swim lesson … and come to find out for altering one of your swimsuits to fit Alanna perfectly. Her hair was pulled back, she had flip flops and a towel … I can’t say THANK YOU enough for treating our kids so well! “THANK YOU AMBER & SHANNON!”
Tye ~ Thank you for getting Kaitlyn safely back home to her mom and dad. Sorry Kaitlyn, maybe your parents will someday let you drive with Aunt Tami again ... and have a sleep over. "THANK YOU TYE"
I’d also like to thank everyone that took the time to stop and see if we were ok!
This is our van ...

The van got towed just in time for us to pick Alanna up from swim class; and then to pick up Peyton. Carl, being the awesome husband that he is, wouldn't consider me cooking dinner tonight. Off to Fat Burger we went ... I am not sure I want to admit that I had a baby fat, fat fries, and then to top it off a chocolate shake with whip cream.
Crapola ~ Crapola ~ Crapola ... What a day!

What a terrible day! I can't believe he actually hit you. I would have chewed him out too.
ReplyDeleteP.S.you blog is adorable!

Sorry to about your accident! I would have cried too!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear about your awful afternoon! I think I would have done the same thing you did (yelled and then cried). I hope your van gets fixed soon (and that his insurance has to pay for everything)!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about this! What a crappy day for you...just glad everyone was okay! It was great seeing you last night and your blog is super cute!
ReplyDeleteIf I had been there I would have been crying right along with you . . . and then people might really look and wonder. Still, you just can't let someone cry alone. At least you had some good times to start out the day . . . and end the day (with your family at Fat Burger).
ReplyDeleteAnd congratulations on your Associates Degree! Represents a lot of work and commitment, especially with a busy family.
